I implore you to not victimize this community again by risking turning what natural ocean and land wonder remain to us after the fire into a forbidden toxic wasteland on island. You must take on the additional cost and focus on building the relationships and influence federal budgets to get federal financial help to remove this waste once and for all. My understanding is that this waste can be transported to a designated area on the mainland where there is ample space to leave it without endangering precious ecosystems and human health.

This is our home. We can’t rebuild nor grow our economy if we, our children, visitors and future generations are not safe and our health is at risk.

Please in the name of Humanity……do not continue to carry out this despicable intention to dump toxic ash and ‘ashes’ into a man-made ‘dump’ site in Maui. I strongly oppose. Thank you to the Do-gooders out there.

I STRONGLY OPPOSE the designated toxic dump site on Maui. This is one the most environmentally irresponsible decisions ever made on behalf of Hawaii's gov't, Am absolutely appalled stupidity and the total disregard for the environmental damage and utter lack of scientific studies for this proposed site. And the fact that Maui officials attempted to do this behind the peoples back and without notice is an issue for recall of the country council members and mayor who voted yes for this desecration of pristine, sacred lands. The world is watching, choose wisely to stop this project. Alternative measures have been introduced for transforming the waste into concrete type building materials. Anyone who cannot see the wisdom in that alternative needs to have their head examined and recalled from public office. Enough already!.

Please DO NOT dump the TOXIC material from the Lahaina fires into the Olowalu dump! Keep Maui safe from this catastrophic environmental disaster! Maui has been through enough… the repercussions of this action are extremely dangerous! Strongly OPPOSE!

I am opposed. This is not about doing it fast, it’s about doing it right. We will have far larger issues on our hands down the line if we don’t include the entire community and make sure every standard adhered to. Or else the county will be facing lawsuits which will cost more in the end. The environmental risk is too great. The future of our children lay in the hands of us and the decisions we make today. Let’s make sure we do right the right thing. Together, as Maui.

Do not put the toxic materials from the fire in Olowalu.

Oppose. Toxic dump site barrier will eventually deteriorate and toxic waste will seep into soil, groundwater, streams/springs/waterfalls, ocean, reef, sea life/ecosystems. Water and food grown on the island and caught from the sea will not be suitable for human consumption/use.

The proposed site to store toxic waste is dangerous, disrespectful and extremely shortsighted. I would like to think our government is better than this.
