We oppose the temporary or permanent dumping of toxic waste from the Maui fires in order to protect our beloved ‘aina, our residents, the ocean and marine life for future generations.
Please Do not dump toxic waste anywhere on Maui island! It will only hurt people and destroy the ecosystem that makes Maui and the surrounding ocean so beautiful.Take the waste off island and dispose of the toxic materials properly. The cost for removal is not a legitimate excuse for destroying the environment or causing people and wildlife diseases. The environmental impact will be catastrophic at this site.
Please do the right thing! Joseph Lian

They moved toxic waste from Paradise, CA fire to dumps over 300 miles away, places that were acceptable EPA approved sites away from sensitive areas. The local dumps were kept for use by the locals for rebuilding and ongoing refuse. This should be the same for Maui. Take it off island.

The people of Maui have suffered enough! Please Do not dump toxic waste anywhere on Maui island! It will only hurt people and destroy the ecosystem that makes Maui and the surrounding ocean

You don't lift up and sustain a community by risking the things that matter most: a clean, healthy environment, safe, uncontaminated fresh water, a thriving ocean including its reefs, RESPECT for the ʻĀina. "Temporary" is a loaded term under the best of circumstances—I've taught in 30-year-old "temporary" classrooms (now styled "portable")—and these circumstances are far from the best; the toxicity of the materials to be stored, the proximity to fresh water streams, the porosity of the substrate, the proximity to a large reef already under pressure from climate change all constitute significant risks taken individually, and when lumped together in haste, virtually guarantee that one or more of the dangers present will manifest. None of the dangers are trivial, none of the potential damage would be easily or quickly alleviated. No, no, NO.
God said those that destroy the earth shall be destroyed. Please do not commit suicide by destroying the planet because god and jesus are in fact watching every one.
I used to live on Maui and visit as much as I can. I love Maui and want to protect her from toxic dumping on Her Sacred lands..
even if you think it's safe and contained, there are chances for it to leach into the waters and the land and the ocean
I whole heartedly oppose this. Please reconsider, protect the Aina and ecosystem and have FEMA take it off Island. Thanks Sharon
Don't dump toxic waste that will destroy the water system, the reefs and the area for many, many years to come.
Please stop sitting on your brains all you in authority and being sold out to more destruction on Maui.
Wake up and do the right thing!!!!
Please stop hurting the people that live here. A natural disater is one thing, to knowingly burry toxic dirt in a place that is so sacred, so close to the ocean where we play and catch food to feed our families, that's the wrong side of this deviation to be on. You're put in office to HELP your community and lead them, not poison them.
I oppose the toxic dumping on olowalu, maui. This will kill off our drinking water, mother reef, and fishing source also pollute the land and have irreversible effects for future generations. The winds in Olowalu will carry this all over Maui, and everyone will be impacted. There are farms below the proposed sight that feed many families. There are other more intelligent ways to address this issue that are much more sustainable for life and the environment.

I agree 100% with the following statement…

It is unacceptable to propose a solution that will leak toxic materials on our island
This can not happen. It would be beyond devastating for every level of life.
Will pollute ocean
Too close

I oppose toxic dumping. Too close to the ocean and residential areas. Toxic waste should stay in Lahaina, until permanent solution is found.

Maui council may have a revolution on their hands if this dump site passes. The call has gone out to us in the main land to join the fight.
Too toxic that close to the ocean.
