I support the renewal of the lease for Maui Nui Botanical Gardens. It is a valuable resource for the community. It provides native plants and volunteer opportunities for our residents. I love walking around there and seeing the progress they are making and how they are keeping Maui green. Please let them continue this little oasis which brings such joy and peace to Kahului.
We are in support of MNBG's lease extension, with hopes leading to permanent use of the site it currently occupies. The Garden has been a great educational resource, not only on Maui island, but throughout the world via its website and other web postings. Furthermore, the conservation studies and practices by the Garden serve the future of the natural resources of Hawai'i. MNBG is home to endangered and threatened native Hawaiian plants, living testimony of the care and success of their work. Please serve Hawai'i by extending the lease to Maui Nui Botanical Gardens. Aloha.
I am in support of MNBG renewing their lease for at least another 20 years. They have been an amazing community resource that hosts many community events, classes and educational workshops. They also support the community and aina by giving away native plants weekly. MNBG is an important part of Maui.
When so much of our land is being covered with dwellings and commercial use, Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is an oasis which I believe is worthy of protecting. The Arbor Day plant giveaway brings people from all walks of life in touch with the native flora. This garden is a true gift to the community. Such dedicated staff and volunteers. Mahalo
Maui Nui Botanical Gardens holds an important place in the community and the venue it is located at has facilitated many educational events for the continuation of a better Maui. They give in such big ways to the community and have garnered a large following of support over many years. I give my highest recommendation for Maui Nui Botanical Gardens for another 20 year lease.
Please continue to support this important nature-oriented and cultural resource. It is a special place and one Maui can be proud of.

The Botanical Garden lease should be extended. Not only is it an oasis in Maui's every growing "city," it organizes and provides numerous classes on fun (Christmas wreath-making) and interesting topics, many of them culturally oriented (kapa making, kalo growing, etc.) While others give lip-service to "food sustainability," MNBGʻs Lā ʻUlu is a fun and educational day about the important growing and preparing breadfruit. Trees consume carbon dioxide and make oxygen. How many trees have been added to our island as a result of MNBG giving away 1000 saplings every year at its Arbor Day celebration? Please extend the lease for another 20-years.
The Native Hawaiian Plant Society was formed in 1980 to educate the public about Hawaii's unique native plants, assist in their preservation, and encourage their use in landscaping. Maui Nui Botanical Gardens shares these goals. NHPS has annually assisted MNBG in their public events - the Arbor Day giveaway & more recently La Ulu Day. MNBG's guided tours and workshops provide unique opportunities for residents & visitors alike. MNBG's recent expansion into seed banking of native species, where previously the only such facility was on Oahu, is also supremely important. MNBG is a resource that should be supported indefinitely.

Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is a valuable source for education and Native Hawaiian plant and cultural preservation, allowing access to native plants which gives us the opportunity to relate to the natural world.
The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is very important to the future of Hawaii. They preserve and teach about native species many of which are endangered in order to perpetuate the continued existence of these plant species. The park has many beautiful trees as well. Please keep this beautiful and educational area, our lives will be better for it.
Aloha,
I’m writing today to please ask for your consideration to continue to support the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens through a lease extension. Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is such a wonderful community resource. Our family has been on the receiving end of many Native plant giveaways, and we now have several areas of our property with these plants thriving. Without the out reach that the Botanical Gardens gives, this may not have been a reality at our house. We also see their outreach in a variety of ways, and welcome the classes and help that they give to the entire community. Located in Kahului, this is a space that is well used and should be support through the form of an extended grant. Their mission and purpose is a driving force to keep Maui green in the best way possible.
