To whom it may concern:
I am writing this letter in support of the new waste water treatment facility for the Maalaea area. My wife and I recently purchased a property in Maalaea because we truly love the area and Maui as a whole. We rent our property out and host dozens of guests each year who contribute to the Maui economy and tax base. The outdated treatment processes that are in place are bad for the environment and need to be upgraded as soon as possible. A big thank you to Tamara, Mark Shane and Gabe for putting the ecology and sustainability of Maalaea Bay first and we hope others will join them in approving this new waste water treatment facility.
Respectfully,
Dylan and Erin Slatton
2023 Maui Budget Request - Reconsideration
I am writing this email in support of Council Member King’s proposed budget amendment to fund the Maʻalaea Regional Wastewater Reclamation System. I am a homeowner of one of the condos at the Hono Kai complex in Maalaea, and I am requesting that $9.5 million of funding be appropriated to the Ma'alaea Regional Wastewater Reclamation Facility in the 2023 budget.
Ma'alaea Bay is in desperate need of a better wastewater infrastructure. The coral and wildlife in Ma'alaea is suffering from the poor antiquated wastewater system. This is also contributing to the increasing erosion happening at the Ma'alaea Bay shoreline.
Maintaining the health of Ma'alaea Bay is not only important to sustain the shoreline and the wildlife, but it's also important for the success of the tourism industry that relies on the Ma'alaea Harbor. As such, I ask the County of Maui to support the Maʻalaea Regional Wastewater Reclamation System through Council Member King’s proposed budgement amendment.
Regards,
Melanie Feliciano

Full council support is needed for a regional wastewater sewer system and treatment plant
To whom it may concern:
Maui County has an obligation to build wastewater infrastructure in Maalaea because the county created this problem and the county needs to fix it.
Sincerely
Michael Carothers
April 25 Meeting re: Maalaea Waste Water Treatment Plant
It is vital that we take care of our oceans and get rid of injection wells!
Please approve the Regional Wastewater Plant in Maalaea. The wells in that area are some of the worst offenders on the island. I am a condo owner in Maalaea, Maui resident and long time Hawaii resident. We desperately need to shut down these aging systems and see Maalaea Bay restored to a clean and healthy environment for corals, fish, and humans alike.
It is without question the right thing to do! Why why why would we wait??
The right time to do the right thing is NOW.
Please vote to approve the $9.5m project.
Mahalo,
Tracey Cannon

Please examine carefully the option to replace those outdated, polluting injection wells. Maui as beautiful as it is deserves our best efforts to insure a safe natural environment.
Thank you for your consideration.
