Aloha, PYCC has been my children's sanctuary for a decade! I can't imagine anywhere they would rather be at PYCC after school, on the beach, and skateboarding! The staff is beyond amazing. They not only provide the safety they provide moral support and the type of supervision that holds the child accountable and gives them a safe place to be themselves. I am soooo grateful my kids have PYCC to spend their after-school time at. I hope they get all the funding to continue this for generations. Maholo, Sutton Healy

I am writing in support of the PYCC’s proposed lease expansion. Their program is a shining example of how a program can benefit the community. They have built an amazing curriculum that mixes fun and learning and Paia and Maui are a better place as a result. My children enjoy the safe, wholesome and educational environment provided by the staff at the PYCC and I am thankful we have it in our community.

I am in support of an expanded lease area for the Paia Youth and Cultural Center. This amazing place has been a safe and wonderful gathering space for youth from Paia, Haiku and Upcountry for the better part of 30 years. I am concerned that the Youth Center's future is imperiled. The existing building is threatened by rising sea levels, high surf and in the worst case scenario a tsunami. PYCC is being proactive in trying to retreat from their existing shoreline location to an area that is outside projected areas of sea level rise. They need the expanded lease area to build a new youth center. Without an expanded lease and a new building, this important resource for the young people of Maui had a limited future. I hope county council recognizes the importance of PYCC to the community and supports the new lease area.
