I ask today that you prioritise funding for rental assistance in the County budget!
Families across Maui County are still struggling to afford housing—especially wildfire survivors and working families who are being priced out of their own communities.
Rental assistance is a lifeline that prevents homelessness, supports local workers, and helps people stay rooted where they live, work, and raise their keiki.
Please invest in programs that help keep our residents housed and our communities strong.
I am writing to extend my deepest gratitude and offer my full support for the incredible STEMworks™ programs that you continue to provide for our keiki here on Maui.
Thanks to these initiatives, my daughter Callie Jade has had the opportunity to participate in transformative educational experiences—learning from professionals, exploring real-world technology, and gaining confidence in areas she previously only dreamed of.
One of the highlights for her was Girls Engineering Day, where she connected with other students from around the county who are passionate about STEM. The collaborative, inspiring environment helped her see herself as a future innovator, and she left more motivated than ever.
Another impactful trip for the kids? the science trip to Oʻahu, where students engaged directly with STEM professionals and learned about industries and opportunities that are not readily available here on Maui. These kinds of experiences are priceless and would not be possible without the support of programs like STEMworks™.
I respectfully encourage you to continue—and expand—your funding and support for these life-changing programs. They are shaping the future of our youth, our community, and our local economy. When we invest in STEM, we’re investing in equity, opportunity, and long-term resilience.
