    Aloha,
I would like to state my support for the nomination of Mary Ann Kamalani Pahukoa to the Maui Planning Committee in regards to Resolution 25-37. I have had the pleasure of working with Kamalani for the past two years and have been able to witness her passion and resourcefulness regarding issues that impact our East Maui communities. Her role as a Native Hawaiian Cultural Practitioner for East Maui would be one that she would excel and succeed in by using her own experience as an active member of her community, wealth of knowledge regarding Hawaiian history and politics, and compassion for all kānaka in Hawaiʻi. Kamalani is a problem-solver, a spokesperson, and a role model for our next generation of leaders.
    Mahalo nui,

    Go Kamalani!

    Aloha,

With respect to Resolution 25-37 appointing Mary Ann Kamalani Pahukoa to the Maui Planning Commission, I am in strong agreement for her nomination and appointment! As a Hāna resident it has been my direct experience that Kamalani is highly engaged with the East Maui community, and I see her as an eloquent and thoughtful representative for the future direction of planning for Maui County. As the ED of the Hāna Business Council and Editorial Associate for the Hānaside News, I have also found Kamalani to be an incredible spokesperson and writer, able to synthesize and inform the public on matters that illuminate culture, support safety and resiliency, and exemplify civic responsibility. Her involvement in this Commission is also a great model for our upcoming next generation Hawaiian leaders. Her presence, coupled with her responsiveness and capacity to learn, will also assist with the necessary due diligence and forward thinking needed to both build and rebuild infrastructure with intelligent design.
