GREAT-12 Bill 64 (2023) BILL 64 (2023), RELATING TO AMENDING SECTION 3.16.020, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO SETTLEMENT OF CLAIMS AND OTHER CIVIL LITIGATION (GREAT-12)
I am asking, PLEADING with, Mayor Bissen and the Maui County Council to please quickly resolve the issue over the many appointments to Boards and Commissions that are on hold. The fact that the Mayor's paperwork was a few hours behind schedule reaching one destination, seems a strange reason to create this big an upset. If there were particular nominations the Council didn't want, couldn't they have been individually declined, as the Council often does? Why create a giant, legally questionable boondoggle? (Hamajang). If it was a power play, it wound up negatively affecting all of Maui Nui. The ripple effect is affecting more and more boards and commissions that do not have a quorum to get any of their work done. Please come together to resolve this quickly. For the good of the people of Maui, any egos, soapboxes, or revenge thoughts should definitely be left at the door, so the important work of the many boards and commissions can get underway again. Wouldn't a prompt Ho'oponopono be a great way to show the citizens of Maui that you are doing everything possible to help heal our community that is still hurting in so many ways? Thank you
