    Aloha Chair and Committee,

I would like to give testimony on Resolution 24-31, CD1, entitled “APPOINTMENT OF A MEMBER TO THE KULA AGRICULTURAL PARK COMMITTEE FOR THE COUNTY OF MAUI.”

I highly recommend my good friend and longtime supporter of Maui Food Bank, Sally Barr, for membership on this committee. I have had the privilege of working with her and her 2-acre farm of which she donates over 90% of the harvest to Maui Food Bank. She has a genuine love for our community and wants to see the food system thrive in Maui County.

We've had numerous conversations regarding the issues Maui faces surrounding food security and I have consistently been impressed by her dedication, strategic thinking, and outlook on the health of our food system. Sally's contributions to our organization have been invaluable.

Sally embodies a true sense of "aloha" and I know will prove beneficial to this committee. I am confident that she will bring a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and enthusiasm with her, and make significant contributions to the success of your initiatives.

    Mahalo,
    Brandi Saragosa

Resolution 24-27, CD1, entitled “APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO THE COST OF GOVERNMENT COMMISSION FOR THE COUNTY OF MAUI.” I Lee Chamberlain am submitting my testimony for membership to the Cost of Govt. Commission. My background in advocating for alternative transportation methods and my experience in business management make me a strong candidate for the Cost of Government Commission. My advocacy work demonstrates my commitment to promoting efficiency and improved services, which aligns with the commission's goal of reviewing and recommending improvements to County operations and policies.
My experience in managing "Ride Smart Maui" also shows my ability to analyze operations and make strategic decisions to improve efficiency, which would be valuable in evaluating County operations.

I would like to comment on agenda items Reso 24-19 to 24-45 GREAT -2(22)
I am not sure that the Council, in is dedication to fulfilling the important duty to review and affirm Applicants for boards and commissions; actually had the authority to reject the legality of the Mayors list of applicants and begin the matter again.

Also it appears that overall pool of applicants was rather limited and therefore a similar list of names is proposed for board or Commission after Board or Commission. In some Boards, such as the Conservation Planning committee, there appear to be four openings and four potential candidates, but it is unclear if all the applicants actually meet the specific residency or affiliation requirements for the CPC. The applicants. There appear to be four vacancies on the Pa'ia-Ha'iku advisory Committee and five nominees are listed, however, one of the nominees listed did not apply for that board becuasehe alrready serves on it and his term does not expire for another 2 years. This makes the process a bit confusing.
However, since the GREAT Committee and the Council appear to be moving forward to confirm appointments I would like to offer Support the following nominees:

24-19 Noel "Chivo" Ching-Johnson would bring his experience and fair mindedness to the Board of Ethics.
24-23 CD1-There appear to be 3 open seats: I strongly support Robin Knox and Lee Chamberlin for two of those seats. Both have shown a strong work ethic and a willingness to read documents and be prepared.
24-26 CD-1 I strongly support Charla Ann Konohia. She has shown dedication to caring for Maui's special places and has ancestral ties to East Maui area.
    24-35 I strongly support La'akea K. Poepoe

24-36 I strongly support Gary Passon. He served consientiously on the South Maui Community Plan Citizens Advisory Committee to the Maui and the Commission must have a south Maui Member who can step up to help their review of that same plan. Gary is a fair, honest, Hardworking community volunteer and has the skills it takes to be a conscientious Planning Commissioner. He was also the Mayors choice.
24-39 I strongly support the re-a[ppointment of Francine Aarona and the appointment of Charla Ann Konohia and Leina'ala Vedder. Mr. Antone, as mentioned is already a member of the Advisory Board.

    Aloha Chair and GREAT Committee:

Brian Ward’s love for Maui is one reason he would be great on the planning commission
His ability to work with many people with different ideas bringing them together for a balanced/thoughtful/respectful future for Maui
He has been active in his community leading the way with many significant projects that has been beneficial for the those invovled and proactively prevented future incidents for 150 owners.
Brian is 150% dedicated on all projects from start to finish involving all members, respectfully listening to all opinions/options and forging consensus within project teams/committees for project success
Brian Ward is in my opinion a smart direct and compassionate man with Maui future in mind

    Thank you

I am writing in support of Brian Ward. He and I have had dozens of conversations about the urban and traffic problems facing Maui.
I feel that Brian is the person for this job. He has the energy and insight to help find solutions to these problems.
Knowing the work that he has done in the last half decade on other boards speak for his ability to work with others to help improve life on Maui.
