Na Hale O Maui supports streamlining the process of rebuilding homes destroyed by wildfires in Lahaina and Up-Country. One effective way to streamline the process for the permitting and construction of affordable housing is design registering plans. GYA Architects created custom designs for our 12-home Kahoma project in Lahaina. Once approved, the design-registered plans were plotted on the appropriate house lots, and building permits were issued.
Sadly, 14 of our 15 Community Land Trust 'ohana lost their Lahaina homes to the wildfires. We hope to be able to reuse the previously approved, design-registered plan to expedite the rebuilding of these homes.
