Aloha Chair Paltin, DRIP Committee Members and Everyone,

I am in support of an investigation relating to the Aug2023 wildfires on Maui Island.

The Governor mentioned monies released from DOT for infrastructure. My suggestion would be to finish the by-pass road to Ka'anapali as originally planned. By doing so, the R1 water lines could go in along with underground utilities.

Cannot rely on a water system dominated by a private entity whose fallow lands provided added fuel to a life-changing event in Lahaina.

Moku o Keawe has a good volunteer firefighter program. Wealthy empathizers along with community members donate funds to purchase tanker trucks to help the Hawaii County Fire Department fight fires in their respective communities or beyond if the need arises.

Mahalo for your time and consideration. Tammy Harp
