Aloha Mayor Bissen and Members of the Maui County Council:
I would like to request funding to provide the Kilohana Recreational Center with rec. equipment, i.e. ping pong table, pool table, a couple sewing machines, some cooking/baking supplies, etc. so that we can afford the children of Mana`e some after school activities. You will also need to provide a coordinator/supervisory position to coordinate and oversee daily activities as well as regular janitorial services. I'm sure it will be easy to find community/parent volunteers to spearhead some of these activities.

When I was at Kilohana Elementary School, back in the day,the facility had ping pong tables, pool tables, etc. We enjoyed RIF (Reading is Fundamental), sewing classes, girl scouts/brownies, cathecism, art classes, etc. There was always something else besides sports activities to keep us occupied and out of trouble.

Over the years, this building has only been used for occasional school use, luaus and meetings. It would be nice to see this space being used as "labeled" and have our youth once again enjoying this space as well, on a more regular basis.

    Kind Regards,
    Zaidarene Place

    Aloha Council Members and Mayor,
I humbly ask that you support the Lahaina Tennis Youth Club in bringing the Lahaina tennis courts back up to a standard where we can feel good about taking our Keiki there too practice and play. The courts desperately need resurfacing and maintenance. For many decades the Lahaina tennis courts provided a safe space for our youth to not only learn the sport but to excel, as the Lahaina tennis club has produced many state champions. I was born and raised in Lahaina and played tennis at these courts from grade school through graduating Lahainaluna. My son is now in the program and it's sad to see the condition of the courts. I understand your budget is tight and you have many important issues to address but please consider the need of these important courts to our community.
    Mahalo nui,

    Dear Council Members and Mayor,
During the ongoing Budget Hearings could you please find money to support a community police officer (CPO) in Paia. Even a part time CPO could positively effect the quality of life and provide safety to the continuing criminal actions of loitering, theft, open drug and alcohol use occurring on a day to day and night basis on the streets of Paia. Please consider this in the upcoming Budget. Further, could an audit be conducted on the expenditure(s) for security that was given in prior years but which we see little efforts or results of in Paia to date.
    Best regards,Lance Holter

    Aloha Mayor and County Council,
I am in support of the Molokai Kupuna Program. The services that are provided are very helpful to us who are on a fixed Social Security income. I especially enjoy having a monthly massage. Masaages are very helpful to the body's physical health, but the cost is increasing high. I hope someday medicare will cover massages but for now the Kupuna Program on Molokai has afforded me the opportunity to receive massages. Other services of the Kupuna Program are very beneficial to our senior citizens on Molokai and my hope is that you continue to fund the Kupuna Program on Molokai. Sincerely, Edwin T. Misaki (Happily Retired)
