Otomo Engineering is involved in many major projects and has business ties to most if not all of the developers and construction companies in Maui County. The conflicts of interest involved in appointing Ashley Otomo are disqualifying. Recusal is not a remedy as the board needs quorum in order to deliberate and make decisions. Chair Molina should recuse himself from this decision as his daughter's employer Munekiyo Hiraga collaborates frequently with Otomo Engineering.
