    Aloha,
Please restrict golf courses irrigation, hotel landscaping, airport water features and power washing.
Be very clear what the consequences are for violating the water restrictions. Fine excessive users and irrigation systems owners that are not respecting the water restrictions.
Protect and exempt agriculture uses unless the water is being wasted by actively monitoring high water bills.
A&B was known to dump water so they could justify their claim of usage. Mahi Pono should not be allowed to self monitor like A&B was allowed to. The County Water Department should be very involved with making sure the water is being used, not wasted.
    It’s a public trust.
    Mahalo,

I fully support APT-60 Bill 79 (2022) BILL 79 (2022), EXEMPTIONS FOR AGRICULTURAL WATER CONSUMERS FROM RESTRICTIONS OR MANDATES DURING WATER SHORTAGES (APT-60)...Fruit and nut trees are part of our food SECURITY. Not enough water will cause slow death of the tree...for cows, it's 10 gallons per day, if not sudden death...The Water Dept has done zero to build more storage in the 22 years I've lived on Maui...the AWG has pushed back against past Director Taylor who said improvements must come from income...not true...Gen Obligation Bonds or Infrastructure Grants are what Maui needs to do to protect the Aina and the Wai...This is an important bill for Ag...Support Ag with this vote.

    Aloha Council Members,

I am writing in support of Bill 79. This action is long overdue. We should not be penalizing our farmers and ranchers for using water during droughts. They are growing food for our community and water is vital to their operations. While I understand the importance of conserving water during drought times, I think that exemptions for our agricultural sector are crucial. I strongly urge the committee to support his bill and pass it so that our farmers and ranchers can have some relief during these exceptionally difficult times.

    Mahalo,

    Jennifer Karaca
