I support increasing the home owners exemption (BFED-32(7), but would like to see the exemption increased to $400,000. The decrease in revenue could be made up by raising the taxes on Non-owner occupied homes. I also support increasing the exemption for long term rentals. As a homeowner and a resident I see how the high valuation of property and compeating with off island owners affects residents whether we rent or own.
