My name is Lexie Nellis and I am testifying for BFED-1 support of Maui Economic Development Board’s Economic Development Grant under the Maui County Office of Economic Development. I am an eighth grader at Lokelani Intermediate School. I am a part of the STEMworks AFTERschool Program. I have learned so much from joining this club. It has given me so many opportunities and new skills that I would have never seen myself doing in the future. I have made jewelry, learned how to create a business and podcast. I really enjoyed all these things because we had freedom and could be as creative as we would want. When I grow up I want to focus on being a SPED teacher but because of this club I have been inspired to start my own small business. This program has taught me how to price, make, and enjoy having business but most of all I have learned is to show off my creativity no matter how crazy it is.Please continue approve the budget for MEDB so that we can have opportunities of a lifetime and help others like me be creative.
