Aloha and good morning County Councilmembers,
My name is Kahau Siliga and I am the teacher at E Malama I Na Keiki O Lana`i Preschool, here on the island of Lana`i. On behalf of our program, I would like to express our gratitude to the Department of Housing and Human Concerns for including our preschool under the Maui Family Support grant. We've been very fortunate to have the support from the Maui County Early Childhood resource team; we thank them for their continued guidance and for ensuring that our Lana`i preschool families were considered for this upcoming funding period. We understand that grant funds will be administered in a different way, however, we remain confident that this shift in the line item will not jeopardize our families from being supported. Our families will still be able to receive tuition assistance at the same level which is determined based on their financial need. Thank you again, to the Department of Housing and Human Concerns and the Maui County Early Childhood Resource Center for including E Malama I Na Keiki O Lanai Preschool as part of the Maui Family Support Grant funds.
