In their pastoral letter, The Right to a Decent Home (11-20-75) , the US Catholic Bishops wrote "we begin with the recognition that decent housing is a right. Our Catholic tradition eloquently expressed by (Saint) Pope John XXIII and Pope Paul VI insists that shelter is one of the basic rights of the human person."
