Just want to add my support to APT-40 CC 20-65 Feasibility of purchasing & maintaining the EMI Water Delivery system (APT-40):
I’ve read some of the TIG report and am impressed at how much work went into it.
My testimony is coming from one who drives the Hana road a couple times a month, at times more and seeing the disrepair of the ditches, not only from the road, but also from a couple rivers that are being diverted, Makapipi & Pua’a ka’a. There’s makeshift pipes in places, letting the water run freely to nowhere. There’s even makeshift ditches above the regular ditch by Pua’a ka’a.
They poison the areas around the ditches & rivers, no time to keep it cleared.
If Maui County purchases the system, there should be better care of this important resource. There would be better water recording devices and County could make sure there’s enough for the people and not just one corporation controlling the water for their own benefit.
This would benefit the public overall.
