Please continue to support the Maui Hub with additional funds to enable them to expand and share the local produce with many more on this Island. Maui Hub is exactly what is needed. Allowing the local folks and the long term visitors to buy and eat locally produced goods, it is a boost for the farmers and the growers to be able to have a platform for the distribution of their goods. Like any business in order to do more they must continue to grow and expand to be able to deliver their produce to more and more folks. Please assist them in their goal to increase their distribution with additional equipment. Thank you

Please support and invest our county budget in Maui Food Hub by granting funds in this years. budget. Maui Hub has done a wonderful job of serving the farmers and the consumers and even small local businesses. It has helped our community/island to get fresh local produce easily. Supporting our local farmers and ag business is SO IMPORTANT. We need to build our local food economy and not rely so much on imported food.

Dear Budget, Finance, and Economic Development Committee Members,

Please accept my testimony in full support of maintaining a flat budget request of $34,000 for the Ka Ipu Kukui Fellows Leadership Program. This program is unique in its ability to give access and exposure to future leaders of Maui the larger social issues that is usually reserved to only decision makers. In my participation, I have gained exposure to the macroeconomics of our State's major issues as well as issues specific to Maui County. I have been educated and can speak with clarity on issues that many just have opinions on. The program is designed to expose us to the issues and allow us to form our own opinions based upon facts. The program has given us normally reserved access to such organizations and leaders as CEOs of Hawaii's major public companies, local politicians, farmers, Monsato, Pulama Lanai, and EMI to just name a few.

This well developed program continues to build a strong networking foundation of diverse individuals that some are and many will be making decision for Maui. I know of a few fellows that are now in decision making capabilities within the County of Maui government that already can have a positive impact for the future.

I thank you and urge for your continued support to make an investment in Maui Nui through its concerned future young leaders. Your investment has and will pay dividends for years to come.

Thank you for allowing me to testify in support of Ka Ipu Kukui Fellows Leadership Program.

    Sincerely,

    Robert Kawahara, CPA

    Aloha mai,

I am in full support of maintaining the Ka Ipu Kukui Fellows Leadership Program budget request of $34,000 (flat funding) in FY 22 to support this leadership development program specific to Maui Nui. As a member of the current class (2020), the experiences of this program have deepened my knowledge, appreciation, and commitment to our Maui Nui community. Along with networking opportunities, I have learned a great deal about government at the county and state levels in Hawaiʻi. This program supports emerging leaders in Maui Nui across many sectors such as Non-Profit, Business, Government, and Education which adds value to the leadership capacities of our fellows. I am proud to be a part of this program and believe in its merit in developing strong leaders with passion. Please continue to support this uniquely Maui Nui program. The value that the Ka Ipu Kukui Fellows program adds to Maui Nui is invaluable.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide testimony.

    Me ke aloha,

    Aloha Kakou,

I am in support of Ka Ipu Kukui Fellowship grant for $34,000.00 FY 2022, and humbly request the county's allocation of these funds.

I am in the current cohort (2019-2021), and I am a strong supporter of this amazing fellowship. This has been one of the most educational and community-minded connecting groups I have been a part of that represents a diverse group of current and future Maui Leaders. Ka Ipu Kukui has expanded my knowledge of all things Maui, particularly how our island functions, particularly as is relates to governmental, resource management, and critical infrastructure points of view.

Please extend the relatively modest funding of $34,000 to help continue this amazing program.

    Me ka mahalo nui,
    Riley E. Coon
