See testimony attached, and links to a great example of a County Ordinance to prohibit smoking in multi-unit buildings.

Position: Maui County should provide financial and other resources to support families and children suffering from negative social and economic impacts of Coronavirus

Dear Committee Chair Riki Hokama, Vice Chair Yuki Lei Sugimura, and Committee Members:

Aloha, I am a female small business owner who grew up here on Maui and I am writing to say that Maui County should provide financial and other resources to support families and children suffering from negative social and economic impacts of Coronavirus. It is a very unique time in history and the community needs support more than ever before.

All of my several businesses were shut down with this pandemic and I am now on unemployment as are many of my peers. Anything that the Maui county government can do to help small business owners and other community members who have been affected by this pandemic would be wonderful!

I also think this would be a great time to consider a smoke-free multiunit housing ordinance for Maui County.

With the Covid-19 pandemic affecting our community, which is a respiratory virus, it is more important than ever to keep our air clean and our lungs healthy!

This seems to me to be one of the easiest ways to battle this virus and slow the spread of Covid-19 in our community.

I support a smoke-free multiunit housing ordinance for Maui County because it would help protect the health of our residents, including our developing children, and help support properly managers efforts to maintain clean, safe, healthy environments for residents, visitors, and staff.

    Especially now during this pandemic.
